  1. Review of Thinking Points at the beginning of the year, highlighting when/how/what levels to assess kids
  2. Still in DRAFT format, when finalized, will be taken apart by grade level with the benchmarks on the back

  • Literacy Coordinator Job Description for 2011-2012
  • Coordination with Bookroom Coordinators
  • Possible PD structure for next year - staff meetings, early release, book studies, collaboration with 21st Century Integration Coaches

  1. Structure will be planning a unit with integrating Complex Thinking (combining Dec and Feb Early Releases)

  • Register for Ashland Credit
  1. Kate will create LPDC form for pre-approval when you enter this into CerTrak, and will be sent to you within the next week

10:10-10:20
  • Break

10:20-2:40 (lunch break determined by large group and/or small working groups)
  • Updating the Balanced Literacy Framework
    • Make a plan for the work. Possibilities:
    1. Diving into Instructional Strategies - modifying definitions
    2. Defining the Elements, referencing the research to back them up, possibly moving the Elements section to the front of the chart
    3. Defining "What does Balanced mean in Balanced Literacy Framework?"
    • Work backward to set due dates
    • Divide into working teams
    1. Reading: Angie, Emily, Sarah, Michele
    2. Writing: Molly, Elizabeth, Shelley, Kathleen
    3. Word Study: Kerry, Lauren, Kate, Julie
  • Dig in and begin working
    • Smaller working groups may need to meet in between now and the next big group meeting - if so, please set dates
